Three Important Events This Week!

Tuesday August 24th

Our Needs Assessment Working Group will be meeting from 7:30 to 9:00pm at SoHo cafe (2150 P St NW, at the corner of 22nd).  Click here for a map!  It’s within a couple of blocks of several metro stops: Dupont Circle, Farragut North and Farragut West.

This group will be working to design a new needs assessment for trans people in the DC Metro area. This is an open meeting, please feel free to attend if you would like to get involved! Contact dctranscoalition@gmail.com for further details.

Thursday August 26th

Forum on Recent Violence against the LGBT Community:  Marking the Anniversary of the Death of ‘Na Na Boo’ Mack and the 15th Anniversary of the Death of Tyra Hunter
In light of recent incidents of violence, GLOV in partnership with Transgender Health Empowerment, Latinos en Accion, and other LGBT organizations, will hold a special Town Hall Meeting on Thursday August 26th at 7:00 PM at the DC Center for the LGBT Community, 1318 U Street NW.

We will also be marking the one year anniversary of the death of “Na Na Boo’ Mack and the 15th anniversary of the death of Tyra Hunter.  We hope to get updates on the investigation into the murder of Na Na Boo.

Friday August 27th

“Don’t Make Me Take Off My Earrings” A Stand Up Comedy Show & Benefit Event

A Stand Up Comedy Show featuring Sampson with special guest Dawn Henderson. Tickets are $15 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Wanda Alston House (an LGBT youth shelter). Please come and and show your support!  The event is from 10:00 to 11:30pm at the DC Arts Center  in Adams Morgan, 2438 18th Street NW.  For more information, check out the event’s facebook page.

Tomorrow morning Ursula and company will call you at 8:30/2:30 to discuss the inside higher ed piece.  Your one on one with Jill will follow, and she has sent background materials for that meeting.
